‘Basics of Dementia: What Everyone Should Know’ at Tiburon Library
Tuesday, December 3 @ 11:30am – 1:00pm
FreeNoticing signs of memory loss, confusion, or frustration in a loved one? Seniors At Home neurologist Dr. Catherine Madison will present about dementia, in this special event produced in partnership with the Tiburon Library.
With society’s increasing awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, the medical community has shifted toward earlier evaluation of cognitive changes, which has led to a growing recognition of conditions that resemble dementia but whose effects can be reversed with treatment.
In this talk, Dr. Madison will cover:
- The definition of dementia and common causes
- The normal fears associated with dementia
- Why it is important to screen
- Communication challenges
- The goals of care
This free, in-person event will be held in the Founders Room at the Tiburon Library, as part of the library’s event program series.
