Counseling and Grief Support

There are times when life delivers challenges that seem unmanageable. We’re here to listen and support you.

Counseling

Whether you are lonely, trying to cope with the loss of a loved one—or simply not feeling like yourself—our licensed clinicians can help you explore your thoughts and feelings with care and compassion. Our clinicians are experts in the unique issues faced by older adults, including caregiving stress, life transitions, aging, and grief.

Counseling services offer:

  • Short-term individual counseling with a licensed clinician
  • Tools to help you through challenging times
  • Flexibility to meet via telehealth or in our San Francisco office
  • Medicare and private pay options

Grief Support Groups

Coping with the loss of a loved one may be one of the hardest experiences we face in our lifetime. Our grief support groups, facilitated by professional grief counselors, explore the emotional, spiritual, and psychological aspects of the grieving process in a safe and supportive environment.

The eight-week series is suitable for anyone who has suffered a loss, regardless of age, faith, or relation to your loved one.

BOOST Therapy Program in Marin County

Many people feel depressed by the multiple changes that can occur in life as they get older, such as moving out of a home, losing loved ones, and becoming less independent. The Behavioral Options to Optimize Senior Transitions program—known as “BOOST”—is a therapy program for older adults in Marin County who are experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of depression.

BOOST therapy includes up to 12 individual, weekly therapy sessions held either in person at the Seniors At Home offices in San Rafael or via Zoom. Medicare reimbursement helps fund BOOST services, allowing therapy to be provided at no cost to many participants.

To learn more about any of these services, call us at 415-449-3700 or contact us online.

The BOOST program is supported by Marin County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services with Mental Health Services Act (Prop 63) funds.
