Join us to view ArtWorks Downtown’s current exhibitions: Joy, REPAIR: An Exploration of Trauma & Healing and Finding Beauty by David McElwee.
Caring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job. Memory Cafe is a gathering for people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers (spouses, family members, or friends). Enjoy time with your loved one and meet others who are dealing with similar issues in a supportive and welcoming environment. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver.
About this outing: Joy celebrates visual-art’s ability to uplift our spirits by showcasing six Bay Area artists embracing positivity in diverse and thoughtful ways. Each connects with joy through their own path. REPAIR: An Exploration of Trauma & Healing challenges our relationship with objects in a consumerist society. Featuring works by Bay Area artists, the exhibition explores repair’s literal application, its symbolic connection to healing and trauma, and the blurred lines between utilitarian objects and artistic expression. Finding Beauty by David McElwee: statement from the artist: “In my photography, I’m especially drawn to the unusual or peculiar. Sometimes that means experimenting with long exposures, double exposures, infrared light, or unexpected perspectives. Other times, it’s simply about honoring a moment of beauty just as it is.”
Memory Cafe meets on many Thursdays in Marin at different locations. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver.
Please RSVP in advance by emailing Amy Takemoto at: MemoryCafe@jfcs.org.
