Memory Cafe in Marin — 1/2/2025
Thursday, January 2 @ 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Free
Come with us to the Marin History Museum where we’ll view their current photography exhibit showing the works of Louise A. Boyd and Ansel Adams.
Caring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job. Memory Cafe is a gathering for people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers (spouses, family members, or friends). Enjoy time with your loved one and meet others who are dealing with similar issues in a supportive and welcoming environment. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver.
About this outing: We’re going to the Marin History Museum at the Boyd Gate House to check out their exhibit Petals & Ice: The Adventures of Louise A. Boyd. Learn about Boyd an internationally-known explorer, geographer and photographer who chartered expeditions to the Artic and was the first woman to fly a plane across the North Pole. This exhibit features polar landscape photographs taken by Boyd on her expeditions to the Arctic, and never-before seen photographs by Ansel Adams taken of her home and furniture for an auction catalog in 1963, before she sold her home Maple Lawn to the The San Rafael Elks Lodge.
Memory Cafe meets on many Thursdays in Marin at different locations. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver.
RSVP in advance to Amy Takemoto by emailing her at: MemoryCafe@jfcs.org.
