Join us for a presentation The Empowered Caregiver: Communicating Effectively by the Alzheimer’s Association in partnership with Seniors At Home.
Dementia affects a person’s ability to communicate, making it hard for them to convey their wants and needs to the people around them. Caregivers can learn how to use a person-centered approach to communicate more effectively with someone experiencing any stage of the disease.
Topics include:
- How dementia affects communication
- Using a person-centered communication approach
- Tips for communicating with family, friends and health care professionals
Andrea Korsunsky, Director of Seniors At Home’s Center for Dementia Care, will serve as guest facilitator.

Andrea Korsunsky, Director, Center for Dementia Care
Andrea Korsunsky, BSW, is the Director of the Center for Dementia Care at Seniors At Home, a program that provides direct psychosocial intervention to those diagnosed with Dementia and their family care partners. She has over 20 years’ experience in her field, including directly supporting people with dementia in her role as a social worker, and providing training for other professionals on best practices. She believes in care plans that are rooted in meaningful connection and autonomy for the individual, and she focuses on quality of life.
