SUMMARY:Memory Cafe in San Francisco -- 7/23/2025
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a tour of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Truhlsen-Marmor Museum of the Eye. The world’s only free\, public museum dedicated to the fascinating science of sight. We’ll check out ophthalmic artifacts and interactive displays while discovering surprising facts about vision and vision care. \nCaring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job. Memory Cafe is a gathering for people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers (spouses\, family members\, or friends). Enjoy time with your loved one and meet others who are dealing with similar issues in a supportive and welcoming environment. \nAbout this event:  The American Academy of Ophthalmology was incorporated as an independent organization in 1979. Founded in 1980 as the Museum of Vision\, the Truhlsen-Marmor Museum of the Eye preserves the history of the Academy and strives to inspire an appreciation of vision science and history of eye care. It hosts thousands of  ophthalmic artifacts including spectacles\, visual aids\, medical instruments and interactive displays and a virtual reality headset. Hyde Street Parking Garage is located directly next door to the museum at 655 Beach St\, San Francisco. There are parking meters on the streets. A pickup and drop off space is located outside the front door on Beach Street. \nSan Francisco Memory Cafe meets on many Tuesdays at different locations. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver. \nPlease RSVP by July 15 to Amy Takemoto by emailing her at: MemoryCafe@jfcs.org.
