SUMMARY:Memory Cafe in Marin -- 11/12/2025
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we explore the inaugural Sausalito Center For The Arts Open — a dynamic juried exhibition celebrating creativity\, diversity\, and the enduring spirit of Sausalito’s artistic community. \nCaring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job. Memory Cafe is a gathering for people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers (spouses\, family members\, or friends). Enjoy time with your loved one and meet others who are dealing with similar issues in a supportive and welcoming environment. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver. \nAbout this outing: For this exhibition\, a distinguished panel of jurors selected 271 works by 197 artists across painting\, sculpture\, photography\, mixed media\, digital\, textiles\, and more. The result is an inspiring showcase of vision and talent\, from emerging voices to established professionals. Jurors Hilary Magowan (de Young Museum)\, Craig Coss (College of Marin)\, and Susan Snyder (Caldwell Snyder Gallery) brought together three distinct perspectives — academic\, institutional\, and commercial — to shape an exhibition that reflects both the zeitgeist of our time and the timeless beauty of artistic expression. \nMemory Cafe meets in Marin at different locations. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver. \nPlease RSVP in advance by emailing Amy Takemoto at: MemoryCafe@jfcs.org. \nMemory Cafe in Marin is sponsored by the JFCS Marin Donor Circle.

SUMMARY:Memory Cafe in Marin -- 8/27/2025
DESCRIPTION:Come with us to see Paint Sausalito’s plein air art show\, where the organizers encourage us to “Step into the captivating charm of Sausalito through the masterful eyes of acclaimed plein air artists. This immersive experience invites you to witness art in motion as talented creators transform the scenic streets of Sausalito into vibrant canvases.” \nCaring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job. Memory Cafe is a gathering for people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers (spouses\, family members\, or friends). Enjoy time with your loved one and meet others who are dealing with similar issues in a supportive and welcoming environment. \nAbout this outing: During our visit we’ll view the art of Dorallen Davis\, an impressionist landscape/figurative painter based in Marin County. She was the Director and Owner of the renowned Marin Art School\, instructing students in the colorist/impressionist tradition. Dorallen is also a founding member of Colorists of California. She is well known for her plein air paintings in the colorist tradition\, and widely collected and exhibited in many Northern California fine art galleries. “I want to capture the moment\, the atmosphere\, the wind\, and what it is that takes my breath away when I experience that first glimmer of light on the water next to the land. What I truly love is to paint from life\, landscape en plein air\, figure or studio portrait\, and still life in natural light. Being born and raised in Marin County has left an indelible impression on me that remains always in my mind’s eye.” \nMemory Cafe meets in Marin at different locations. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver. \nRSVP in advance by emailing Amy Takemoto at: MemoryCafe@jfcs.org. \nMemory Cafe in Marin is sponsored by the JFCS Marin Donor Circle.
