Working collaboratively\, we will consider what makes abstract art expressive\, and how abstract expressionist art uses color and mark-making to communicate feelings and a sense of place. Together\, we’ll make a large collaborative piece using mixed media on paper. \nSan Francisco Memory Cafe meets on many Tuesdays at different locations. SUMMARY:Memory Cafe in San Francisco
DESCRIPTION:Accompany us to Ruth’s Table’s Curious Minds program. We’ll be given a tour of their current gallery exhibit\, Radical Resilience\, and also make art with Suzanne. As the exhibit’s curators write: “Radical Resilience is at the core of our collective ability to survive\, sustain\, thrive and create. We can all gain something by celebrating our pathways and ourselves as we are.” For our art-making session\, we will examine Claire Spector’s patterned and stitched quilt\, titled “Shattered”\, which represents the beauty\, brokenness\, and holding-together of stained glass. We will make\, break and repair patchwork designs of our own inspired by Spector’s art. \nCaring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job.
