SUMMARY:Memory Cafe in San Francisco—6/16/2026
DESCRIPTION:Join us to explore the traveling exhibit of I Am An American: The Nisei Soldier Experience\, a powerful traveling exhibition recounting the storied history of American soldiers of Japanese ancestry who demonstrated their loyalty through military service during World War II\, amid the racial tension that followed Japan’s attacks on Pearl Harbor. \nAbout this outing: I Am An American is hosted in San Francisco by the National Japanese American Historical Society with the Presidio Trust. The exhibit is presented by the National Veterans Network (NVN) with the National Museum of the United States Army and supported by The Army Historical Foundation. Visitors will witness dozens of firsthand accounts\, historical photos\, and rarely displayed artifacts that present the extraordinary courage and sacrifices of Nisei Soldiers\, including those who comprised the most decorated unit in U.S. military history for its size and duration of service. \nCaring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job. Memory Cafe is a gathering for people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers (spouses\, family members\, or friends). Enjoy time with your loved one and meet others who are dealing with similar issues in a supportive and welcoming environment. \nSan Francisco Memory Cafe meets on many Tuesdays at different locations. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver. \nRSVP required by June 14th by emailing Amy Takemoto at Memorycafe@jfcs.org. Please indicate the date of the event\, participant and caregiver’s name and which event you are responding to in the email.
