SUMMARY:Memory Cafe in San Francisco -- 7/15/2025
DESCRIPTION:Join us to view art exhibits including Fractured\, a solo exhibition by artist Shepard Fairey and 36 Views\, a solo exhibition of small paintings on paper and canvas by artist Robert Minervini. \nCaring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job. Memory Cafe is a gathering for people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers (spouses\, family members\, or friends). Enjoy time with your loved one and meet others who are dealing with similar issues in a supportive and welcoming environment. \nAbout these exhibitions — From artist Shepard Fairey: “The title of this show\, Fractured\, reflects not only the current state of our culture and socio-political dialogue\, but also the theme of duality that I explore in much of my work. This body of work explores the fractured nature of humanity and modern life\, and also the beauty found in the fractures such as the rips and tears of layered works on the street. These imperfections symbolize depth\, transformation\, and the unexpected beauty of a new creation poetically resulting from a destructive act of transgression.” From artist Robert Minervini: “The works in 36 Views depict both real and imagined perspectives of Mount Hood in Oregon; the concept and title paying homage to Japanese artist Hokusai (1760–1849) and his iconic series 36 Views of Mount Fuji.” \nSan Francisco Memory Cafe meets on many Tuesdays at different locations. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver. \nPlease RSVP in advance to Amy Takemoto by emailing her at: MemoryCafe@jfcs.org.
