SUMMARY:Memory Cafe in San Francisco
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Ruth’s Table presents Curious Minds Memory Cafe for art-making and a guided discussion. \nCaring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job. Memory Cafe is a gathering for people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers (spouses\, family members\, or friends). Enjoy time with your loved one and meet others who are dealing with similar issues in a supportive and welcoming environment. \nAbout this outing: We will be exploring Jasper Wilde’s art along with the community art created during the artist’s workshop in June. Working collaboratively\, we will consider what makes abstract art expressive\, and how abstract expressionist art uses color and mark-making to communicate feelings and a sense of place. Together\, we’ll make a large collaborative piece using mixed media on paper. \nSan Francisco Memory Cafe meets on many Tuesdays at different locations. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver. \nPlease RSVP in advance to Amy Takemoto by emailing her at: MemoryCafe@jfcs.org.

SUMMARY:Memory Cafe in San Francisco
DESCRIPTION:Accompany us to Ruth’s Table’s Curious Minds program. We’ll be given a tour of their current gallery exhibit\, Radical Resilience\, and also make art with Suzanne. As the exhibit’s curators write: “Radical Resilience is at the core of our collective ability to survive\, sustain\, thrive and create. We can all gain something by celebrating our pathways and ourselves as we are.” For our art-making session\, we will examine Claire Spector’s patterned and stitched quilt\, titled “Shattered”\, which represents the beauty\, brokenness\, and holding-together of stained glass. We will make\, break and repair patchwork designs of our own inspired by Spector’s art. \nCaring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job.
