SUMMARY:Memory Cafe in San Francisco -- 1/13/2025
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a special Monday gathering — a docent-led tour of a special exhibition of work by Tamara de Lempicka at the de Young museum. \nCaring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job. Memory Cafe is a gathering for people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers (spouses\, family members\, or friends). As the de Young museum describes this exhibition: “With works that exuded cool elegance and transgressive sensuality\, Tamara de Lempicka (1894–1980) helped define Art Deco. Her paintings captured the glamour and vitality of postwar Paris and the cosmopolitan sheen of Hollywood celebrity. This exhibition — the first major museum retrospective of Lempicka in the United States — explores the artist’s distinctive style and unconventional life through four major chapters.” \nMemory Cafe meets in San Francisco at different locations. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver. \nRSVP required by January 7 for this special event. RSVP to Amy Takemoto by emailing her at: MemoryCafe@jfcs.org. \nNote the main entrance to the de Young museum will be closed this day. Use the Education entrance on the side or the Garage entrance. Disability placard parking spaces will be available in front of the building and will be marked. The pay garage will be open and you may enter on 10th Avenue and Fulton Avenue. SUMMARY:Memory Cafe in San Francisco -- 10/15/2024
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a walking tour of the Civic Center area and City Hall with San Francisco City Guides. See the beautiful architecture of the Asian Art Museum\, the War Memorial Opera House\, City Hall\, and learn about their history. \nCaring for a loved one with memory loss doesn’t have to be a lonely job. Memory Cafe is a gathering for people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers (spouses\, family members\, or friends). Enjoy time with your loved one and meet others who are dealing with similar issues in a supportive and welcoming environment. \nThe number of openings for this special event is very limited so please RSVP as soon as possible while there is still space\, and RSVP no later than October 8. RSVP to Amy Takemoto by emailing her at: MemoryCafe@jfcs.org. \nPeople who have pre-registered with Amy for the event and received a confirmation from her will meet at the steps of the San Francisco Public Library main branch\, on the Fulton Street side between Larkin and Hyde Streets. Please do not bring backpacks or large bags because we need to go through City Hall security screening. Wheelchair-accessible entrances for City Hall are located on Van Ness Avenue and Grove Street. \nSan Francisco Memory Cafe meets on many Tuesdays at different locations. Participants must be accompanied by their caregiver. \n
