Grieving the Loss of a Loved One—Bereavement Group

If you have experienced a personal loss, the Grieving the Loss of a Loved One Bereavement Group welcomes you.

This six-week series, facilitated by professional grief counselors, is a way for those coping with the loss of a loved one to find support, community and healing. This grief support group explores the emotional, spiritual, and psychological aspects of the grieving process in a safe and supportive environment. This group is suitable for anyone who has suffered a loss, regardless of age, faith, or relation to your loved one.

Rabbi Daniel Isaacson, Director of JFCS’ Spiritual Care Services

Rabbi Daniel Isaacson holds a bachelor’s degree in religion from Dartmouth College. He received a master’s degree, and his rabbinic ordination, from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, in New York City. During his rabbinic training, Daniel lived and studied in Israel for four years. Prior to his work at JFCS, Daniel trained and worked as an interfaith chaplain at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center and as a spiritual care counselor for Pathways Hospice, both in the East Bay.

Robyn Bloom, LMFT, JFCS Counseling
Areas of Expertise: treatment for adults, couples and families: anxiety, depression, trauma, career and life transitions, financial challenges, separation, divorce, parenting and co-parenting support, loss, and grief. Certified premarital counseling, Prepare/Enrich, helping couples build resilient relationships. Specialties include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Positive Parenting and Co-parenting support.


Partial funding is provided to JFCS’ Grief and Bereavement Services by individuals and foundations. Special support for Bereavement groups is provided by Sinai Memorial Chapel.
